Your District website employs the features of a Google calendar. D6TM.org displays calendars on various pages of the site by showing the full Calendar of events or by showing a special subset such as Officer Training or Fall Speech Contests.
Requesting a Calendar entry
To submit a request for a new calendar event entry or to suggest changes, please send your request using the Contact page selecting webeditor for category.
Description
Please specify the information (what, when, where) in a full description text that can be copy-pasted into the calendar entry. The webeditor will select a title for the entry that is consistent with similar entries.
Mapping
Where: If you provide a complete street address, this will be entered in a special field that the Google calendar display will offer as a link to a map.
Time
Please specify both the start and closing time for your event. Some entries may be declared as ALL DAY events for calendar display.
Using the Calendar
The Google calendars are embedded within a page on d6tm.org. You have control for alternative display types by using the controls on the edge of the calendar. Select the Monthly, Weekly, or Agenda view type with buttons on the top right corner. You can scroll within the calendar to scan across time in any of the view types. To take advantage of hyperlinks to RSVP contact email or flyers etc., select the "more details" link to open another page from Google.
Flyers
Associated documents such as flyers for your event are useful for your intended audience in some cases. You are strongly encouraged to host your flyer on a club website and send the full http link along with your request. Please do not request that flyers be placed on the district website until you have reviewed your calendar entry. You may use the acknowledgment email that you receive for your calendar entry to supply a PDF formatted flyer that does add value to your event. An example is a flyer with detailed instructions that your guests can bring with them to travel to your location and find the room on time.
Turnaround time expectation
The selection of the Google calendar was chosen to provide an efficient display for dated events as well as to employ a tool for fast response to you. The copy/paste of your text into a calendar entry is a straight-forward effort. That is why we are promoting the calendar to be first. You may expect an email response from your contact for a new or edited entry within a day. If you haven't received a response within two days, become suspicious and try again. You should always look for the "Your message has been sent" notice on the website when you contact us. You will not get a copy. (If you do get an email notice, you probably selected yourself as the category to contact).
Flyers are more involved and since campaigns require many changes for events to be added to a page they are best done in a batch fashion to complete many requests at the same time. Please allow a week for flyers to be added.
