Relevant work experience and how it relates to Toastmasters and your role as a District officer:

I work with majority owners of Cub stores and I have to serve their needs as they pay to have their accounting done by me and others. This has taught me to provide the best customer service and have good communication skills. The same would hold true for Toastmasters and being a District officer. I want to provide the best service to the members of District 6 to make their Toastmaster experience fantastic just like mine has been!

What experience do you have in strategic planning?

Completed the District Success Plan current year and last year. I have also done strategic planning for businesses for a year at a time and do analysis of year over year results. Completed Club Success Planning multiple times. It is necessary to review planning periodically and update as needed.

What experience do you have in the area of finance?

I am an accountant. I create and analyze income statements , cash flows and trial balances which businesses use to assess how they are doing. I do analysis on year over year results as well as in depth for individual accounts such as expenses and payroll. It is very easy to understand the finances at Toastmasters because of my background.

What experience do you have in developing procedures?

I have developed procedures for various accounting systems – Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and General Ledger for the end user. Those procedures needed to be very detailed and user friendly.

What lessons did you learn from previous leadership positions?

I have learned to work with people from different backgrounds for a common goal and form a strong team. Listening and clear communications is extremely important to make the right decisions I believe I motivate others by putting in the work. I walk the walk, not just talk the walk. I treat each person as an individual. Everyone is different. Finally, by being kind and respecting others I get treated that way as well and that makes for a very positive learning experience for everyone.

Why do you want to serve as a district officer?

I believe I can make a difference with my passion, energy, leadership style and my desire to serve members/ people so they can learn and grow. Toastmasters has something to offer every one. Toastmasters is a great program that I have benefited from in a huge way. I want to spread the word so others can achieve the same benefits I have received. I enjoy helping people become Toastmaster members and in turn mentoring and helping them learn and grow to be better communicators and leaders.

In your opinion, what are the district mission’s major objectives and how would you work to achieve them?

The district mission’s objectives are to build more clubs to allow people to experience the wonderful benefits of Toastmasters and to ensure that all clubs are fulfilling their responsibilities to their members. As District Director I will shoot for the stars; the sky is the limit! I will drive our district to excellence with assistance from Fellow District Leaders through my road map for member success. I will guide elected and appointed leaders through a successful experience where they can achieve personal growth while serving the members of District 6. I want all members of District 6 Toastmasters to succeed!! I am committed to serving the members of District 6 and making it the best it can be and even better!
