Relevant work experience and how it relates to Toastmasters and your role as a District officer:

I was a project manager over 25 years, I switched career focus to coaching as an Agile Scrum Master and team-coach since 2011. Both these roles utilize communication, planning, cooperation and team facilitation and support. My roles have been in IT roles, so I also have extensive technology acumen, further supporting my ability to understand and grow the district clubs growth.

What experience do you have in strategic planning?

As a project manager I have done extensive data and risk analysis for status and forecasting to help teams succeed, remove issues, take the paths leading to solution a SMART goals, ROAM anaysis & OKRs (Objective and Key Results) for both setting and achieving goals. As a team coach I help facilitate cooperation, team contribution and growth and adaptation through agile metrics , adjustment and being a change agent for success.

What experience do you have in the area of finance?

I’ve worked at a bank for the last 3 years, but my focus here is in technology team support & execution. I do take regular training in financial risk and laws, as directed by my employer. I did oversee an audit last year with a score of 100% on compliance.

In my prior role at United Health Group I would manage project  budgets and team hours and dollars allocated in Clarity. This responsibility would cover and oversee in the millions of dollars for my projects per year, up to 38 million dollars a year at my peak management volume. This was primarily managed in Clarity – prior to 2008 it wad in the software Planview. I also supported project audits and used Service Now for deployment approvals.

What experience do you have in developing procedures?

I have developed and overseen procedures for many decades – as both an IT Project Manager, a Team lead with people reporting to me at work as a manager and an agile Coach and team Scrum Master I value supporting and improving procedures and process regularly.

What lessons did you learn from previous leadership positions?

Every voice and  team member brings perspective to both goals and issues – we are stronger as a team with contributions from all members.

Why do you want to serve as a district leader?

I would like to help District 6 grow stronger and support the resurgence of Toastmasters in the years ahead.   I love community activities and the benefits of communications growth and trainings available through Toastmasters.  The safe environments of clubs for practicing speech is a wonderful resource. I also enjoy the camaraderie of Toastmasters – all the people I have met and am meeting. It’s a wonderful network.

In your opinion, what are the district mission’s major objectives and how would you work to achieve them?

The District missions should be set and supported by the clubs, their members and the leadership teams. In this way the goals and objectives may change year over year. I see ahead objectives including new club growth, club resurgence, and community networking as objectives. We can set both broad objectives and measurable Key Results to show progress and review direction and options.
