Relevant work experience and how it relates to Toastmasters and your role as a District officer:

I do onboarding of new accounts and services in my current job, so I have to keep people on task and keep track of deadlines. I track the things that need to happen and make sure they are being completed timely. I have learned through Toastmasters feedback skills which I have used in my job to help others if they are not meeting requirements or possibly need some additional training.

What experience do you have in strategic planning?

I perform project planning with my job. Mostly getting expected timelines and holding teams to those deadlines.

What experience do you have in the area of finance?

I do not have much experience in the area of finance. I took a couple account classes in college. I also worked as a contract analyst for a few months checking contracts to see if they were profitable and increased them as needed.

What experience do you have in developing procedures?

At times in my job I have needed to create job aids for others to work from. I would help create the initial process and then document it so that it could be followed by the incoming team taking over support.

What lessons did you learn from previous leadership positions?

I have found that you need to put yourself out there and ask for collaboration. You can’t just jump right into business there needs to be a personal connection as well.  Asking a team for feedback and suggestions on process can help others in the group who may be struggling to find a solution or bring awareness that there is an issue.

Why do you want to serve as a district leader?

I do not have experience leading others officially, I have managed many projects and task completion of others but I would like to gain experience helping others grown in their own leadership journey.

In your opinion, what are the district mission’s major objectives and how would you work to achieve them?

I feel the District’s major objective is to provide quality programming for its members. I feel that they try to achieve that with quality leaders. The hope with quality programming and leadership that it will cascade to the club level.

Additional information about yourself:

Outside of Toastmasters, I work full time and I am a mom of two kiddos ages 8 and 12. Keeping a healthy balance is important to me. I love animals and have two dogs. In my free time I do jiu jitsu and CrossFit.
