REST – REFLECT – REFOCUS

Dear District 6 Members,

It is almost hard to believe that we are nearing the end of 2023. Without a doubt, the year has flown by. The Holidays seem to only affirm that realization, and yet, I hope that as the year winds down you will take time to rest, reflect, and refocus.

Resting – physically, mentally, and emotionally – has tremendous benefits.

Physical Rest allows our bodies time to recover, prevents injuries, reduces pain levels, boosts immune system, lowers blood pressure which promotes a healthier heart, and improves overall performance.

Mental and Emotional Rest increases creativity, mental clarity, alertness, and energy levels, as well as improves the quality of sleep, improves the ability to regulate emotions – reduces anxiety and improves moods, memory, and productivity.

Reflection

As a leader, while it is important to take intentional and meaningful actions to accomplish goals and objectives, it is equally important to take time to pause and reflect. Reflecting is taking the time to thoughtfully consider where we have been, what we have accomplished, and what we hope to accomplish in the future. It is asking ourselves if we are truly happy with the results we achieved, the manner in which we achieved those results, as well as the person we are becoming or do we need to adjust what we are doing. Honest reflection takes courage because it will highlight opportunities for improvement. While some adjustments are minor, others may be more significant, and yet, if we are willing to adjust, our efforts will yield great dividends. It will highlight what is really important to us, how we can achieve even better results, as well as ways we can step into our personal potential in a greater way. When we commit ourselves to becoming the best version of ourselves, it will be a win in every arena and relationship in our lives.

Refocus

After you have taken the time to reflect, choose to refocus where needed. Focus on what is really important to you and the path necessary to accomplish the goals you are seeking to achieve.

Distraction will zap our energy quicker than you could imagine.

The flip side of that is also true. Where you have clarity and focus, you will find the energy and momentum building within you to see your goals achieved. You will have a renewed excitement to take the steps necessary to achieve the goals that are before you.

As you think about 2024, please do not go into it passively. Take some time to identify what you want to accomplish in the coming year. Think about the kind of person you want to become, and then, make a clear actionable plan to achieve those goals and become an even better version of yourself.

I believe that each one of you has tremendous potential within you. My heart is that 2024 will be a year that you step onto the path of your potential in a greater way. A year where you are intentional about taking the steps necessary to accomplish your goals or at least moving towards them in a greater measure.

I truly believe that the BEST IS YET AHEAD!
