Stretching and Growing

Hello Fellow Toastmasters:

I can’t believe how the year is flying by! We have 5 months left in the current Toastmaster year that ends on June 30, 2021. I sincerely hope that you are finding value with your Toastmaster membership; realizing your WHY. By realizing your WHY you are stretching and growing as a communicator and a leader. That, my friend, is a beautiful thing!

I want to encourage you to make a difference in the lives of others by serving as a club officer or stretching outside of your club to be an Area Director next year, beginning July 1, 2021. All you have to do is say YES! to stretch and grow in Toastmasters. That’s how I began my leadership journey! I said YES! to becoming an Area Director and have said yes to many other great leadership opportunities since then. The Toastmasters tagline Where Leaders are Made is true! You will grow as a leader and a communicator/speaker simultaneously. It literally takes a village to run District 6. The Area Director is a big part of our village. We need you to sign up to serve as an Area Director. The Area Director role is the best job in Toastmasters! You will learn and grow as a leader and communicator while serving the clubs in your area. For a detailed description and application please go to Area DirectorStretch and Grow!

Stretch and Grow!

This is a very busy and exciting time of the year with a lot of opportunities to stretch and grow:

  • TLI (Toastmaster Leadership Institute) is on February 6th. All are welcome to attend. This is an online event open to all Toastmaster members. We have some exciting electives to choose from to help you stretch and grow. You need to attend all 3 sessions to get credit for club officer training, round 2. Please register here at this link: TLI.
  • Speech Contests are going to begin soon at your club, up through your area and division and will culminate at the District 6 Spring Conference on April 17th.  The two contests this year are Table Topics and International. I remember participating during my first couple of years as a Toastmaster. I participated in the area and division contests. I didn’t finish in first place but it wasn’t as much about winning as it was about the journey to get to the division speech contest and what I learned about myself – how I grew as a better communicator from that experience. It’s a great opportunity to stretch and grow your communication skills.
  • Congratulations! And thank you to all of you who have earned education awards. Eight (8) DTMs; 38 triple crowns; 426 total education awards have been earned so far! Continue to stretch and grow by working and learning in Pathways.

Fellow Toastmasters, you can stretch and grow as much as you want in our program. Reach for the sky! I am challenging you to step out of your comfort zone by participating within your club and outside of your club – be a club officer, participate in speech contests, become a district leader! All you have to do is say YES!

Please let me know how I can help you say YES!
With Gratitude,
Deb
