100 Days of Opportunities
100 Days! Fellow Toastmasters, that is all that is left in this Toastmaster year which will end on June 30, 2022. There are a lot of opportunities in District 6 over the next 100 days which bring value to you, the member. The Trio is working hard to make sure that no member is left out, that opportunities are in place to help you reach your goals whether it’s to be a better communicator or a better leader or both; to help you give that presentation at work so you can get that promotion; to help you communicate to your customers in a clear, concise manner building trust and credibility (whomever your customers are).
Opportunity #1: Reflect on what you have achieved and renew your commitment to progress towards your next personal goal by March 31. Consider how your personal life and professional life have benefited from participating in Toastmasters and will continue to benefit. Continue to invest in yourself! I know I have benefited in all aspects of my life and will continue to benefit. My manager pointed out on my annual review that my communication skills are stellar and allow me to excel in my job. Thank you, Toastmasters! More to come from Club Growth Director, DTM Colleen Marie Kelly.
Opportunity #2: Area speech contests are in full swing. I highly encourage you to attend an area contest. Stretch and grow outside of your club. Maybe you will be motivated to start preparing a speech for next year! End of March and early April are the division contests with many great speeches. Finally, the grand finale of speech contests happens during Spring Conference week on April 28, 6-10 PM. The best of the best! I hope you will be there to cheer on your favorite speaker! Please check the D6 calendar page for times of upcoming contests and registration links. More to come from Program Quality Director, DTM Linda Dorn.
Opportunity #3: District Council meeting during Spring Conference week on April 23, 9-12 PM. If you are a club President or Vice President of Education or part of the District Executive Committee, please attend this very important meeting to elect District 6 leaders for next year, starting July 1 and also vote for the realignment of District 6. More to come from District Director, DTM Deb Luu.
Opportunity #4: Attend the Spring Conference! I am super excited to be meeting in person again finally! I hope you can join me and the rest of the trio on April 30th at Mystic Lake Casino and Hotel. Stretch and grow. Learn from education sessions and keynote addresses. Grow from networking and meeting new people. More to come from Program Quality Director, DTM Linda Dorn.
Opportunity #5: Stretch and grow by stepping up to be a club officer, area director or other district leader. Now is the time. You will not regret it. Don’t have the time? Sure you do. You have time to invest in yourself, to learn and grow as a leader while in a safe environment. The skills you will gain will transfer over to your life and your job where the environment might not be as safe. Go to the Help Wanted Page Here to find out more information on the area director and other district leadership positions. More to come from Program Quality Director, DTM Linda Dorn and Club Growth Director, DTM Colleen Marie Kelly on opportunities in District 6.
Fellow Toastmasters, now is the time to make the next 100 days matter. Matter to you. Matter by reflecting and renewing, matter by stretching and growing. Please let me know how I can help.
With Gratitude,
Deb Luu, DTM
District Director
