Explorer of Light
Here is an excerpt from my “Explorer of Light” – a Level 5 Leadership Development Pathway speech:
How many photos do you think are shared every day?
We share roughly around 6.9 billion images per day on various social media platforms. Facebook, Instagram, Flickr, and WhatsApp. We have a habit of curating our most intimate moments and experiences for our friends, families, and communities. What are some of my favorite genres of photographs that I enjoy taking? They can vary from travel, Ariel photography, fine art portraits, journalism, and milestone events. How many of us have used a camera at some point in our lives? Maybe you’re on a trip or a family outing and inspiration hits to take a photo.
I started photography as a sports photographer. I took a class in high school to develop film from the snapshots I would take. I joined co-ops to learn more. I wanted to branch out and explore a variety of areas of photography that would be more my style. I went from a film camera, to point and shoot, and now I shoot on a DSLR Sony camera. I have grown in my art. Most of the time I have done photos that were tried and failed.
What are my 3 main points to keep in mind?
- Location
- Aesthetic
- Colors
These are what make a great photograph, and don’t forget about composition. I’d like to get your input. How does this image make you feel? On one of my many trips to Hollywood, I stood in front of the fountain at the Paramount lot and the day was just right. I styled my outfit and I had my hat which made me look distinctive and important. You always want to look your best at events. Even the way I posed helped made the photo great! You never know who will ask to take your photo.
