February Already?

The new year is in full swing. Your New Year’s resolutions going strong?

In our area of the country (for most of us) we are probably just about fed up with winter. I am and I have lived here for 50+ years. I use this time of year to curl up with a warm blanket and writing speeches.

As Public Relations Manager (PRM)/DCP Chair I have responsibilities, and, for me, it is not all about the speech (some of you may know I say that and I will explain). 

It is time to think about our Pathways paths, building club membership, our club’s Distinguished Club Program (DCP) points, and becoming Distinguished Clubs and District by June 30th.

Round 2 of Officer Training is almost over, officers should be thinking about their replacement for next year, Pathways levels they can complete yet this year, and goals for 2022 – 2023. All other members should be thinking about their Pathways path and what officer role they want to explore for next year.

But wait, there’s more. How about friends, family, and co-workers coming to meetings to see what you already know? Toastmasters is SO much fun and has opportunities to explore running a meeting, giving an ‘Elevator Speech’, giving speeches, evaluating a speech, and it will not even feel like it is about those speeches and presentations. (Where have you heard that?)

All the while, DCP points are adding up for completing Pathways levels. Officer Training is being completed by four or more officers, member renewals and new applications are processed, and all of a sudden, the club has five or more DCP points before June 30th.

There is still time for DCP points and I can help. As PRM, I am promoting District 6 – I could use your help. Promote on your social media. We are all in this together and I know by the time June 30th rolls around the District will be on top with that Distinguished designation too!

Right now, it may not be ALL about the speech, it is about all of US.
