Finishing Strong

Finishing Strong.  We hear the words, and yet, do we take the time to truly consider what they mean?

To finish something means that we made the decision to start something. That could be in our day job, in our family, in our social circles, or in Toastmasters.  That decision may have been a decision of our own choosing or one that was made for us. However the decision came about, we had goals that we hoped to achieved, intentional effort that we applied, and time that we spent towards achieving those goals that could have easily been applied towards other things.

Along the way, we made the decision to stay the course and honor our commitments. It may not have always been easy or convenient, and yet, we chose to stay the course.  It is amazing the difference that simply staying the course with our goals in focus can make.  In the moment, it may not have seemed like it really mattered, but it did matter and it does matter. Significant and meaningful results only happen when we are intentional, consistent, and passionate in our efforts to achieve our goals or carry out our
responsibilities.
If we are, it is amazing what we can achieve for ourselves and on behalf of others not to mention how much we will learn and grow along the way.

As we are approaching the end of the current Toastmasters’ Year, the end is in sight.  My encouragement to each and every Member, Club Officer, and District Leader is don’t give up!  There is still time to complete education awards, hold open houses, build our membership, charter new clubs, as well as any other goal you may have set. Your goals are worth the time, energy, and passion that you are willing to apply to them to see them through to completion.

As you endeavor to do that, I encourage you to Google stories about never giving up. You will find stories after stories about individuals who never gave up. They stayed the course even when it would have been much easier to give up, and ultimately, they achieved what they had passionately pursued. I know that I have been amazed over the years at the difference it made when I made
intentional decisions to never give up. With that said, I am highly confident that many of you could add your own stories about the difference never giving up has made in your life.

I truly believe that if we go after our goals with integrity, excellence, passion, dedication, commitment, and choose to stay the course and not give up, it is only a matter of time before we achieve the goals that we are seeking to achieve.

Finishing strong is and will be a choice each person will need to make.  It is a Choice to not have a “What Will Be Will Be” Attitude.
It is seeing What Can Be Done and Taking the Necessary Steps to SEE those Things become Reality.  When we do, we tangibly demonstrate our commitment to complete our goals and carry out our responsibilities with integrity and excellence.  It is an intentional decision to finish the year as strong as we possibly can. My encouragement to you is do it for yourself. Do it for your club. Do it for District 6! If you do, you will be very glad that you did as I believe that when each one of us does our personal best to finish the year strong, we will be amazed at how strong collectively we will finish the year.  As we finish the year strong, we will also set the stage for an even stronger year ahead!

I say that because I believe in the potential of District 6. I believe in the potential of each and every member.  I believe in the
potential of our clubs as I never cease to be amazed at the caliber of the members within our District.  Each one of you brings tremendous skills, talents, and abilities to each interaction and opportunities presented to you. Together, the Future of District 6 is Bright. My heart is that District 6 will go from strength to strength and step into its full potential.

Together, We CAN Finish Strong!

Committed to Your Success,

Colleen Marie Kelly, DTM
