MID-YEAR REFLECTIONS
Hello District 6!
It is hard to believe that we are already in the second half of the Toastmasters Year! We accomplished a great deal in the first half of the year, and yet, we still have time to accomplish so much more! If we will be intentional in our efforts, the sky is the limit for what can be accomplished!
Membership is a key area of focus as it affects all of us.
I believe that we have the opportunity to strengthen existing clubs. The D6 Club Growth Page is full of resources to help you finish the year stronger than you could have imagined.
April Membership Renewals Open February 1, 2022. Officers and Members alike are encouraged to renew early.
Both Toastmasters International and District 6 have incentives in play to reward your club for its membership building efforts.
Talk Up Toastmasters
Program Dates: February 1 – March 31
Toastmasters love to connect, so take advantage of it. The Talk Up Toastmasters membership program is the chance to encourage your members to invite guests to a special meeting where prospective members can learn about Toastmasters’ many benefits. Then add five new, dual or reinstated members with a join date between February 1 and March 31, and you’ll receive a special Talk Up Toastmasters ribbon to display on your club’s banner. Qualifying clubs can also earn a special discount code for 10% off their next club order. (The discount code expires six months from the date of issue and is not valid with any other offer.)
Applications and payments for members with a join date between February 1 and March 31 must be received at World Headquarters or online no later than March 31. The addition of transfer and charter members does not count towards Talk Up Toastmasters credit.
Accelerating – D6 Club Growth Incentive
Any club that achieves a net gain of 5 or more new, dual, or reinstated members for the current program year as reflected on the April 30, 2022 Distinguished Performance Report will receive a $50 Toastmasters.org Shopping Spree (The District will pay for shipping!).
Club Coaches
So often in life, it is easy to think, “What’s in it for me?” While kept in balance that is not a bad question to ask, and yet, if we are not careful and only think about ourselves, we can develop what I call Nose in Navel Disease. Nose in Navel Disease limits our ability to see others and the opportunities to come alongside of them in their journey of achieving their goals. Some people think that if they don’t get involved and only focus on achieving their goals, they will achieve them faster. Sadly, the exact opposite is true. Yes, we need to be focused, and yet, very often, when we help others achieve their goals, we will see our goals realized sooner than we anticipated. I know that I have personally found this to be true time and time again.
The Club Growth Team is endeavoring to find a club coach for every coach-eligible club in District 6. Will you consider being one of them?
Successfully serving as a club coach will fulfill one of the requirements for the Distinguished Toastmaster Designation. It is also an opportunity to develop many skills such leadership, facilitation, negotiation, diplomacy, strategic thinking, effective communication, and much more. For me, one of the greatest joys is helping individuals and groups step onto the path of their potential.
If you are interested in making a difference in the lives of your fellow Toastmasters by serving as a club coach, please fill out a Club Coach Application
I sincerely believe that if we will build new clubs, intentionally strengthen existing clubs, and look for ways to support our members in meaningful ways, we can help District 6 finish stronger than what we even dreamed possible!
