Area Director

Position Description:

As an Area Director, you serve as the direct liaison between the District and the Clubs. The District Administrative Bylaws provide for the selection of Area directors either by appointment by the District Director or by election by the Area Councils. Toastmasters International recommends that District Directors appoint Area Directors.

Below is a list of the primary responsibilities of an Area Director. The meaningful support an Area Directors provide to the clubs in his or her Area and the timely communication with District Leaders on how clubs are doing throughout the year is vital to the health and wellbeing of the District.  It also enables District Leaders to provide timely and meaningful support to the Area Directors as they are supporting the clubs. 

Area Directors are eligible for re-election or re-appointment for one succeeding term only.

Primary Responsibilities:

A successful Area Director develops and uses strong Communication skills and has a sense of service to their clubs and the District.
 

Communication:

The key to success is good communication. Will you make efforts to make real connections with your clubs, fellow area Directors and Division Director?  This includes Club Visits, Calls to Club Presidents and other officers as needed, Leading Area Council meetings, attending Division Council Meetings and reporting status to your Division Director.

Service:

Will you help your clubs achieve success?  This may include leading club officers through analysis of club needs, supporting Speechcraft, Open Houses and other efforts to build club quality and membership.
