What is the EGG?
The EGG is the Elusive Gilded Gavel of District 6. It is an elaborate, oversized, ceremonial gavel. It’s a traveling trophy that encourages Toastmasters to visit other clubs. The EGG was not in circulation during the early pandemic years. Now that many clubs are back to meeting in-person or hybrid, it’s time to set the EGG in motion!

Can clubs that meet online capture the EGG?
Yes! In the summer of 2025, Deb Luu led a group (Marvel Kummer, Karrie Krear, Erik Biever) to review and revise the EGG rules. Online clubs that capture the EGG now get a distinctive background they can display during their meetings, proudly proclaiming their status.

Who has the EGG now?
Success Masters in Minneapolis are the current EGG holders. They hatched a plan to steal the EGG earlier this week. They are pros at poaching. Pictured below is Cathi Droz, DTM and Mary Adams, DTM with TechMasters Rick. Online were Success Masters members Paul Lubinski, DTM and Jackie Flaherty, DTM.

Why do we want the EGG?
First of all, the fame and glory of being the EGG holders. Scrambling to capture the EGG is a great team building exercise. Meeting the members of the club that holds the EGG and sharing their meeting experience. Finally, once you have the EGG other clubs will want to visit you!

How can we poach the EGG?
It’s easy! Gather your group of EGG raiders and notify the club a few days in advance to expect your visit (you may need arrangements to get through security). Scramble your team, arrive on time, and stay for the whole meeting. If your club captures the EGG, take a picture to commemorate the event, and write a story about your EGGscursion. Did I mention that EGG puns are encouraged? They are.
