Time for Transition
The last month has been very busy for the District. We have completed our Annual Conference including the Online Only, Evaluation, and International Speech contests and our business meeting where we elected new leaders for the upcoming year.
We are now planning for next year, recruiting District leaders and helping clubs meet their goals.
This is a time when we must continue to act on our goals for the current year and begin planning for next year. It is an exciting part of the year for Toastmasters.
What were your goals for this year, whether they were personal, club, or other leadership goals? How close are you to completing them? Will you be able to finish them or not? No matter the answer, I encourage you to keep working on them. Schedule a speech to complete or just get closer to completing a pathway level. Work with your club to have that open house or other special event so your club can attract more members and maybe become distinguished or better.
Set yourself and your club up for success for next year. Begin now to think about your goals for the next year. What speeches will you have to give? Is there a project you will need for your pathway? What club officer role might you fill next year? Are you getting closer to completing your DTM? Maybe serving as an Area director is the next step for you.
Both personally and in your club, it is important to powerfully take on this transition time. We must be both working on our goals for this year as well as planning for the 2025-2026 Toastmaster year.
Things to do between now and June 30th:
- Enter any pathways projects that you or your club members have completed. You want to be sure you to get credit. Level completions should be entered by June 30th to get credit this Toastmaster year.
- Work with your club to determine what needs to be done for your club to get Distinguished or better. How will your club achieve that goal?
- Clubs should elect new club officers. New club officers should be submitted in Club Central by June 30th
- Celebrate your successes! Take time to acknowledge the goals that you and your club have completed this year. Be sure your club selects a Toastmaster of the Year and submits the nomination to your Area or Division Director if you don’t have an Area Director this year. This is due by June 10th. - Consider being an Area Director. It is a great way to practice leadership skills that will help you in your personal and work life. It is also a great way to fill the District Leader requirement for your DTM. Apply at https://d6tm.org/position-descriptions/area-director/
