The future ship of District 6, a combined D6 and D106 need leaders like you  to steer it forward; it will be epic!

It’s never too soon to plan for your next big goals! Are you ready to become a leader?  OK, ok, maybe you have just considered the potential?

Hear me out, I’m going to tell you a story and give you some options – options that become opportunities when you accept them.

One option is you can talk to our DLC chair. For the new District 6, the DLC Chair is Katy Hursh, DTM at tm.katy.hursh@gmail.com  She will be excited to hear from you. As our districts 6 & 106 prepare to merge in the Spring our leaders are doing the preparation and planning to fill the leadership roles with qualified candidates for the spring elections. That is you!!

You can do more than you expect!

The first step is to raise your hand, try something new, and become a new leader.

We also want experienced veteran leaders – as we merge District 6 and 106 into the newly expanded D6 in the new Toastmasters year. We will be twice as big with more divisions and areas to support than previously. These roles need you as our Toastmaster leaders.

I will share my leadership journey in hopes of inspiring you to raise your hand.

I became part of the District Trio in my fourth year as a Toastmaster. It sounds precocious, but really, I just raised my hand every year and that was how I have had a leadership role that changed and evolved each year.

I was first a Club Officer in my first year when someone in my club stepped down and I raised my hand. Then I became an Area Director in my second year when my Club President was the Division Director. Then I was elected as a Division Director in my third year. I could have stopped there, but I didn’t. In my fourth year, I was asked to raise my hand to run for Club Growth Director and I did! I was elected as and I was part of the District Trio.

It was with this role that I started working on my team building journey and a leadership role that takes you to the Toastmasters International conference. I chartered seven new clubs, found mentors and sponsors for all of the new clubs, and I coached a club to distinguished status, and coordinated my first Speechcraft program. BAM! – My first DTM was in my pocket!

My fifth year, I raised my hand yet again and I was elected as the Program Quality Director. I planned the District Club Officer training sessions, the District Summer and Winter TLI, and the District Conference.

Now, in my sixth year as a Toastmaster, I am the District 6 Director and I am leading District 6 through a District realignment.

I want to share what an honor it has been to take this leadership journey and get elected, by all of you, our members, to these roles and this journey.

When we take on a District Trio role – we take on another responsibility full of learning and opportunities. I want you to know that these opportunities are here for you, too! We need your voice, your input, and your leadership!

But first, you must apply – raise your hand for a District leadership opportunity.

These roles are all filled by people like you – your voice is the voice we are missing in our future District leadership team! We need you in District 6 for 2026-2027.

Candidate applications should go directly to the District Leadership Chair (DLC) for the District in which you are running for a District Leadership position (District Director, Program Quality Director, Club Growth Director, Division Director). Again, for the new District 6, the DLC Chair is Katy Hursh, DTM: tm.katy.hursh@gmail.com

I can’t wait to see you raise your hand today, be elected, and join us at the transition meeting in the Spring.and

Alli Tripp, DTM

2025-26 District Director
