Club Spotlight: Sales and Marketing Executives Club 2019

Our club has deep roots. Sales and Marketing Executives Club 2019 was chartered in March 1956 and the charter was signed by no other than Ralph Smedley the founder of Toastmasters International. While our club has an extensive history so does the building where our meetings take place. That building is the Minneapolis Club at 729 2nd Avenue So. In Minneapolis. The building was built for the Minneapolis Club in 1908. The Minneapolis Club is a business-oriented club that started in the city in 1883. This historic building provides a distinctive setting for our meetings and yet is both practical and convenient. If you work downtown there is great skyway access and if not, the building has ample parking.

While our venue is great what really makes any Toastmasters club unique is the members. Our club presently has 27 members with three new members recently added in December. Toastmasters 2019 is a welcoming club with a mix of old and new members and a variety of professions. One of our long-time members, a lawyer, argued a case at the Supreme Court in 2008 and won! He credits the club and Toastmasters with giving him the confidence and speaking skills to do this.

Our membership has been stable even during the pandemic and here are some reasons why. The name of the club “Sales and Marketing Executives” is a big draw for us. We interpret this name broadly as business requires that today. Over the years countless members have been referred to us because of a fear of public speaking. If these new members stay and work at it, within 6 months to a year they will show remarkable improvement. As a club we encourage all members to practice their business presentations, eulogies, father of the bride speeches at our club meetings where our members can evaluate and make suggestions.

Our club is unique in that we have two sets of father and son members and one set of father and daughter members. The club encourages our members to take their children to our meetings at an early age and as you can see some have joined our club when they became adults.

In conclusion, Sales and Marketing Executives Club 2019 strives to improve the public speaking skills of our members but values fun in the process. We also promote a sense of camaraderie while seeing the humor and pathos in our daily lives.
