Empower Yourself to Make the Most of Your Toastmasters Experience

Hello Fellow Toastmasters:

I hope you had a fantastic summer! Fall has arrived. It’s time to focus on learning. Whether you are going back to school or Toastmasters, I hope you make the most of these learning opportunities.

My vision for District 6 is Empowering the Best in You! Making sure District 6 provides a high value experience for all members where every member feels empowered to continue to learn and grow, reaching their goals, stepping outside of their comfort zone. This is how we learn and grow as communicators and leaders. Do you feel empowered? It only takes being a member of 1 club. Taking ownership of that club. By that I mean each and every member has goals and cares about the other members and their successes. This environment fosters growth.

I joined a club that modeled this 12 years ago. Opportunities were suggested to me to learn and grow – to empower myself to make the most of my Toastmasters experience, such as being a club officer, and later, an area director. Within a year of joining Toastmasters, I reached a personal development goal in my job: make financial presentations in front of large groups of store directors and management. I received a great review from the district manager as well as my manager. Friends, all of this was made possible by attending a weekly Toastmasters meeting and participating, being present, taking on roles or giving a speech. All along I empowered myself to learn and grow as a communicator and leader, as well as gaining self-confidence. I didn’t realize this until that day when I had to give that financial presentation. Then I experienced the power of Toastmasters. I knew that I was empowered to make the most of my Toastmasters experience – which I did.  I knew that the benefits of Toastmasters were real. It works today through Pathways and club meetings. Whether the club meetings are in person, hybrid or online you will learn skills to help you become a better communicator and leader; you will be empowering the best in you!

My call to action to you: Empower yourself to make the most of your Toastmasters experience. Set goals, take ownership of your club, care about your fellow club members, care about your club. The power of Toastmasters is real. I want all of you to feel it. Empowering the Best in You! Please let me know if I can help in any way.

With Gratitude,

Deb
